According to the spatial Buddhist cosmology, there are four types of meditative absorptions in non-material reality for the gods of highest order (devas). Such absorptions may appear as a result of a very good karma. Although thesestates are the best achievement in meditation, and they are sometimes confused with nirvana, this is still not nirvana, and sooner or later they are followed by the loss of stability and rebirth in the lower levels of samsara. Therefore the attitude to these states of consciousness may be ambiguous and rather negative, because staying in these states is very long and meaningless in terms of salvation of all sentient beings from samsara. The presence on these levels, when many kalpas of creation and destruction of the universe are missed, and then returning back to the lower worlds - this doesn't bring anything to a being except for big loss of time and, after all, suffering. Sometimes it's said these states are no better than staying in hell. The beings from the non-material realm don't have any reliance on any material objects or bodies, and their states are self-sufficient - they get pleasure from their states as such and seek for prolonging them as much as possible, therefore the periods of staying in these states are huge. The result is the blazing fall into the lower worlds in an icy well enveloped in flames... and that's when this closet opens.
